The technology works on Wi-Di protocol, i.e., WiFi Direct eliminating the need for a wifi router. Miracast, as the name suggests, is a screencasting technology that is natively found on Windows 10 systems and has also been adopted by other tech device manufacturers like Google, Roku, Amazon, Blackberry, etc.

WiFi Alliance’s Miracast technology, dubbed as HDMI over WiFi, is to be thanked for this. Earlier, if users wanted to mirror their computer screen, they would need a clunky HDMI cable to connect their computers or laptops with their TV but with Smart TVs becoming a part of every household, the HDMI cables can be ditched. A larger screen canvas allows users to multitask more efficiently by displaying a greater number of active application windows at the same time and improves the media consumption experience.

Projecting your computer screen to a secondary monitor or even a TV screen has a lot of perks.
